On February 21, 2024, DiFrancesco Bateman’s Michael Silbert, Esq. secured an unanimous zoning approval from the Somerville Borough Zoning Board of Adjustment on behalf of his client. This application involved navigating a number of complex “d” and “c” variances to preserve the prestigious Victorian mansion nestled at the corner of North Bridge and West Cliff Street—a true gem in Somerville’s rich history. This iconic mansion, located at 6 West Cliff Street and most recently serving as office spaces, was erected in 1877. It is poised for an incredible transformation thanks to meticulous planning and strategic legal maneuvering. Mr. Silbert obtained preliminary and final site plan approval to revitalize this historic property into a stunning residential haven. The approval facilitates the conversion of office space into a luxurious three-bedroom residential unit spanning the first and second floors, with the attic elegantly repurposed into a studio apartment. The Board also approved a new two-way driveway, replacing the existing one-way driveway, and the conversion of the old horse barn on the rear of the property into a spacious four-bedroom residential unit.
