DiFrancesco Speech Included in Eagleton Center on the American Governor
The firm is proud to announce that the speech given to the New Jersey Legislature on October 3, 2001 by our partner and former New Jersey Governor Donald T. DiFrancesco in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks has been added to the collection of the Eagleton Center on the American Governor. Don’s heartfelt and moving words demonstrate his compassionate leadership which transcended party lines. Don had served as the President of the New Jersey Senate for ten years and become Governor during one of the most difficult times in history of our state. The speech, which can be seen and heard at the link below, has significant relevance to the crisis being faced by the citizens of New Jersey, the United States, and the World today. As Don stated, “Yes we are a great nation because we are a free nation. But we must maintain a careful balance between freedom and security. Freedom is not free. For the sake of our own personal safety we may have to put up with intrusions we didn’t face two months ago.” In the speech Don shined a light on the power and resolve of the citizens, first responders, and public officials of New Jersey who joined together to respond in a difficult time, and he confirmed that in the face of adversity we are stronger when we face it together. The full speech can be viewed on Eagleton Center Website: http://governors.rutgers.edu/governor-difrancescos-911-address/
