Martin Allen chairs the law firm’s Real Estate Taxation Department and concentrates his practice in real estate taxation, real estate transactions and litigation. His practice also includes representation of lenders and other holders of distressed assets in commercial foreclosures, workouts, loan review, chancery litigation and creditors’ rights in bankruptcy.

Martin is an Associate Counsel to the New Jersey League of Municipalities and an affiliate member of the Appraisal Institute. He has been an instructor for continuing education courses given to the Metro New Jersey Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, the New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers, the New Jersey Association of Municipal Assessors, the New Jersey League of Municipalities, the New Jersey Association of County Tax Boards and the Monmouth County Assessor’s Association. Martin serves as a Special Tax Counsel to numerous municipalities.

Martin has argued cases in New Jersey’s appellate courts and the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He appears regularly as a speaker in the area of real estate taxation before the New Jersey League of Municipalities, the Appraisal Institute, the Association of Municipal Assessors of New Jersey, the New Jersey Association of County Tax Boards, the International Association of Assessing Officers and local assessors’ associations.

Martin is a member of the American Bar Association and the Tax Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Throughout his career, he has held a number of positions in the New Jersey State Bar Association, including Trustee (1993-1995 and 1998-2001), Chair of the Unlawful Practice Committee (1999-2000), Chair of the Election Committee (1992-1994), Chair of the Young Lawyers Division (1992-1993) and Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee on Tolerance Education (1991-1992). He has also served on committees of the New Jersey Bar Foundation, including the Public Education Committee (1991-1992) and the Hate Crimes Education Committee (1992-1995).

Martin was a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Oscar and Ella Wilf Campus for Senior Living and was Vice President from 2012-2013, and a former member of the Board of Trustees of The Lena and David T. Wilentz Senior Residence, both located in Franklin, NJ.
